Krishnadevaraya: the Epic Story of Medieval India’s Greatest King
Krishnadevaraya ranks among India's greatest kings -- by the end of his life he remained undefeated on the battlefield, and had built the Vijayanagara Empire up to the apex of its power and prosperity. Even more fascinating: he was a low-caste king, with perpetual "underdog" status.
Welcome to his amazing, larger-than-life story.
For more on Vijayanagara, check out our other video here: ua-cam.com/video/NtvepHA4Pfo/v-deo.html
Special thanks to Srinivas Reddy for his excellent new book on Krishnadevaraya: "Raya"

Bodhidharma: the Mysterious Indian Prince Behind Kung-Fu and Zen
Переглядів 526 тис.6 місяців тому
Bodhidharma is a fascinating historical figure his life is shrouded in mystery, and much of it has to be pieced together from a fragmented mix of sources, some contemporary, some written many centuries after his death in 528CE. However, there is no denying that he played a significant part in creating what we now know as "Kung Fu," and that he propagated Zen Buddhism in the East. Today, we're d...

Over 190 years of colonial rule, the British collapsed India's institutions and economy, and destroyed the equivalent of $45 TRILLION. This is the shocking story of how the British through the East India Company first, then the Crown actually accomplished such a horrible feat. How Did India Fall to the Europeans? | East vs. West

European colonial history in Asia from the British in India to the Dutch in Indonesia is often misunderstood. We're (incorrectly) taught that the East India Companies dominated Asia early, giving rise to more direct European control over their newfound colonies. The truth is much more interesting. In this video, I focus on India to tell the story of the West vs. the East in the "Age of Discover...

    Everything described in the video is just hearsay. No proof. Totally biased against the British to create a sensation. If all this was true then Indian government would have raised claims against the British. The infrastructure that the British created in India like ports, railways, telecom, full cities like Mumbai, Madras, Calcutta, Delhi, Meerut, Cochin, Surat, Dacca, Chittagong, Lucknow, all the tea plantations, hill stations, the elite Clubs, the Indian defense services, the airstrips much much more were all constructed by the British. The Calcutta tramways is used even today. What is the present value of all these? Double of 45 trillion. So all this bluster about the British stealing money is completely false, meant for mischief creation and sensationalism.

    • @arunnaik3375
      @arunnaik3375 9 годин тому

      Oh, absolutely, everything is just hearsay. The meticulously documented economic studies, the historical records, the first-hand accounts from that period-they must all be part of an elaborate scheme to besmirch the impeccable reputation of the British Empire. Clearly, scholars and historians have nothing better to do than cook up sensational tales. And of course, the Indian government hasn’t made formal claims for reparations, so that must mean nothing bad ever happened. Because we all know governments are infallible and always act on every historical injustice immediately. Now, let’s not forget the infrastructure. The British graciously built ports, railways, and cities, entirely out of the goodness of their hearts. They weren’t thinking about their own commercial and administrative convenience at all. Who could possibly think that the railways were meant to transport troops and raw materials for the benefit of Britain? Such a notion is pure mischief-making. The fact that some of this infrastructure is still in use today clearly means the British couldn’t have drained any wealth from India. I mean, using that logic, if a thief leaves behind a nice coat after robbing a house, the value of the coat definitely compensates for the cash and jewels stolen, right? And the elite clubs, those beacons of exclusivity that most Indians couldn’t even enter, surely they were a great boon to the country’s development. The sheer present-day value of the hill stations and tea plantations must absolutely negate the documented economic exploitation amounting to 45 trillion dollars. Because why focus on the inconvenient facts when you can bask in the glory of what was left behind? So yes, let's dismiss all those historical facts and figures as mere bluster. It's far more comfortable to believe in the benevolent fairy tale of colonialism, isn't it?

    Britain automated the weaving of Textiles and that made them more competitive than the hand woven Indian Textiles. I don't doubt that being the Colonial power helped but I bet the technology helped the most. Seriously could Britain replace all the Indian Textiles if they were also hand weaving ? Not a chance ! But they could replace the Indian Textiles with automation.

      The British were not that different from the Nazis. The British colonial administration's atrocities during the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya during the 1950s involved severe and brutal methods, including the establishment of concentration camps where many Kenyans were subjected to horrific treatment. Here are some of the ways in which Kenyans were tortured in these camps: Physical Beatings: Detainees were frequently beaten with whips, sticks, and other objects. Beatings were a common form of punishment and interrogation. Sexual Violence: Both men and women were subjected to sexual violence, including rape and forced circumcisions or castrations. Women, in particular, faced brutal sexual assaults. Forced Labor: Many detainees were forced to perform hard labor under harsh conditions, often without adequate food, water, or rest. Deprivation: Prisoners were often deprived of food and water, leading to severe malnutrition and dehydration. Medical care was also largely unavailable, exacerbating the suffering of the detainees. Psychological Torture: Prisoners were subjected to various forms of psychological torture, including solitary confinement, mock executions, and constant threats of violence and death. Mutilation: Some detainees were mutilated as part of their torture, including the removal of ears and other body parts as a means of instilling fear and compliance. Burning and Electric Shocks: Some reports indicate that prisoners were burned with hot objects or subjected to electric shocks as part of their torture. Water Torture: Techniques such as waterboarding or forced ingestion of large quantities of water were used to torture detainees. These acts of torture were part of a broader campaign by the British to suppress the Mau Mau rebellion, which sought to end colonial rule and reclaim land for the indigenous Kikuyu people. The British government initially denied the extent of the abuses, but evidence and testimonies from survivors have since brought these atrocities to light. In 2013, the British government formally apologized for the abuses and announced a compensation package for surviving victims of the torture. This acknowledgment, while significant, came after decades of denial and litigation .
